Marcus Rashford considering his Manchester United future with striker concerned over his lack of game time following Red Devils’ crushing 4-1 derby loss to City

Reports have emerged alleging that Marcus Rashford is considering his Man United future this summer over growing concerns about his lack of first team football at the club since interim manager Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite United having been dealt an injury crisis ahead of their disastrous 4-1 derby defeat by crosstown rivals Manchester City on Sunday with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo made unavailable due to injury, there was apparently still no room in the starting XI for Rashford with the Red Devils lining up with Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga instead.

Sancho cooly justified the gaffer’s faith in him by equalising in the first half for United with an excellent curling effort while Rashford only came on as a substitute for the final half-hour.

Now according to the Guardian, the disgruntled United striker is allegedly assessing his options and seeking assurances over his future at the club as he has only started two of their last 11 top flight games. Rashford’s current United deal expires next summe but United apparently have an option to extend the deal by another year.

24-year-old Rashford has been seen struggling to hit his best form this season, scoring just four Premier League goals in 18 games and only two since October, although recent reports have quoted Rangnick is eager to help develop the former’s potential and believes he still has a vital role to play at United.

Speaking ahead of the derby defeat, he said:

“With Marcus Rashford, we have another player who I will insist and continuously be behind him and with him, to develop him.

“We have achieved that with quite a few other young players in the past and I don’t see why this should not happen with Marcus.

“He’s got abundant talent, he’s got the pace, he’s got the physicality, he’s got everything that you need for a modern striker, no matter if he’s playing from the wing or in the centre.

“I will put all my energy into that, to help him to take the same pathway that other players did in the last three months.”
