Carlo Ancelotti has just only made a sensational last minute return as Real Madrid manager on Friday, six years after leaving the club, and is already even now at this early stage being linked with Gareth Bale’s future at the Bernabeu due to his warm relationship with the Italian.
With his future still clouded with uncertainty, the Wales star has broken his silence on Carlo Ancelotti’s return to the Los Blancos, as the latter was appointed as Zinedine Zidane’s replacement in the Bernabeu hotseat earlier this week following a 17-month spell as Everton boss.
Bale had joined Madrid from Tottenham when Ancelotti began his first spell at the club in 2013 and played most of the best football of his Los Blancos career under the Italian, after which the Welshman fell out of favour under Zidane in recent seasons, was catapulted back to Spurs on loan for the duration of the last campaign.
But despite scoring 16 goals during his second spell with Tottenham and seemingly recovering his form, Bale’s future remains uncertain with reports in Spain recently suggesting that he could move back to the Premier League permanently this summer.
However it now appears Ancelotti’s return to the Spanish capital has seemingly opened the door to Bale coming back from his Madrid wilderness.
The 31-year-old has now revealed that he is planning talks with his new Madrid manager, once Wales’ participation in Euro 2020 is over.
“He’s returned to Real Madrid and he’s a great manager, a great guy,” Bale told Sky Sports when asked how Ancelotti’s appointment will impact his future.
“We had a great time together at Real Madrid and he’s an amazing person to have in charge of Real Madrid, I’m sure he’s going to be amazing.
“Obviously I spoke to him when we played Everton at the start of the season. We hugged and had a little chat so it was nice.
“But I’m still in the same boat. I haven’t thought about it too much, I’m concentrating on what’s happening now, our preparation, what’s going to happen in the Euros and I’ll sort the rest out after.”
Although acknowledging his long-standing relationship with Ancelotti, the attacker insisted that his future plans are still to be decided.
“It hasn’t affected anything yet. Like I said, I haven’t thought too much about, Obviously I know Carlo has returned and I get on really well with him and I’m not denying that,” Bale added.
“But I’m really just concentrated on now, I’m not thinking about the future at all. I imagine I’ll have a conversation with him at some point and I’ll go from there when that happens.”
