Chelsea will sack Frank Lampard on Monday, reports claim, with the Premier League giants wielding the axe on the club legend less than 24 hours after beating Luton in the FA Cup fourth-round.
Lampard, who is considered one of Chelsea’s greatest ever players after winning 13 trophies in a 13-year stint in west London, took charge in 2019 following a year in the Championship with Derby County and promisingly steered the west London club to a top four finish in his maiden season in the top-flight, but the 42-year-old has come under increasing pressure over the last few weeks with the Blues currently sitting ninth in the top-flight, 11 points behind league leaders Manchester United.
According to reports in Germany, Thomas Tuchel is set to be appointed Lampard’s successor at Stamford Bridge.
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Tuchel is currently out of work having been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain just before Christmas.
