Man Utd pours cold water on Cristiano Ronaldo transfer amid uncertainty over Juventus future

Manchester United have poured cold water on the rumors about Cristiano Ronaldo rejoining them amid the uncertainty over his future at the Serie A.

Ronaldo is under contract at Juventus until 2022 but rumours have suggested he could be heading for the exit door sooner rather than later as the Serie A giants look to cut costs and cash in on the forward as it is rumored they have no plans currently in place for his contract to be extended further.

Recent reports are in fact suggesting that Juventus would rather try and offload their talisman in the coming months to try and recoup some of their initial £100million investment and United are rumoured to be weighing up a shock move to bring the Portuguese superstar back to Old Trafford.

However according to the Manchester Evening News, no such proposals are being discussed, stating on the contrary that sources at United ‘laughed off’ the claims.

There isn’t any doubt that United would like to have Ronaldo back in their ranks, but financing the transfer is another matter altogether as the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is on a stupendous £540,000-per-week wage at the Stadio delle Alpi – almost four times Juventus’s second highest earner, Paulo Dybala.

Juventus have been hit as hard as all other clubs by the debilitating economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown that has totally curtailed spectator attendance at matches. This, coupled with Ronaldo’s advancing years, has seemingly convinced them to cut short his time at the club and slash costs in the process.
