Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is brimming with praise for his counterpart Mikel Arteta ahead of their Premier League clash on Monday night and believes he has lifted the mood at Arsenal, after turning the Gunners into winners again.
The Reds take on Arteta’s side on Monday in the Premier League as they prepare for their second clash of the season following the Gunners’ win in the Community Shield after Arteta had led them to the FA Cup last season and is now trying to improve on their eighth-placed finish in the league last term.
Klopp is preparing his champions for a tough challenge at Anfield, with the the Kop boss saying:
“Mikel showed in a pretty short period of time that he seems to be an exceptional football manager because the team he sets up now, the structure of the team is absolutely exceptional.
“You can see the balance between defence and offence is really good, you can see a lot of things that are obviously really helpful in football.
“Good organisation but freedom for the players as well, he uses the players in the right positions. I have to say since he has been there he did a pretty impressive job to be honest.
“He has changed the whole mood in the club.
“I’m not sure what the mood was before he arrived but I don’t think a lot of people thought he would have won a competition [before the end of the season] and he did that by winning the FA Cup and now winning the Community Shield.
“So that is pretty impressive so they are tough, tough opponents, 100 per cent.”
