Real Madrid won’t join the chase for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer

Real Madrid have a need for a top-notch goal-scorer, but they will hold off on showing interest in their key prospective targets until the 2021 transfer window.

With current market conditions being negatively impacted by the vicissitudes of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming summer transfer window will certainly be fraught with uncertainty, as even top flight clubs across the European continent would be fuzzy insofar as how the resultant market will look like or who will truly be available come this summer transfer window.

Real Madrid, for one, have a need for a world-class scorer but seem to be holding back tentatively on pursuing their top targets Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

It’s already a foregone conclusion at this juncture that both men will be nearly impossible to sign in 2020 as PSG would no doubt do all that’s possible to hold onto Mbappe, even if he’s the perfect fit for Los Blancos and will likely make the jump to the Santiago Bernabeu at some point.

Haaland, on the other hand, hasn’t been expected to be on the block this summer, especially considering that Borussia Dortmund is already highly likely to lose one their other superstar, Jadon Sancho – who seems to be on every other top flight club’s shopping list – to Manchester United. Los Blancos have also made no secret about their keen interest in him.

Any managerial strategist worth his salt would be able to foresee Haaland as a dream signing in the future, especially for Real Madried where the sizzling hot Norwegian lad would be the perfect piece of the puzzle to form a mean attacking trio with Eden Hazard and Mbappe. But for now, Real will probably have to wait. COPE’s Miguel Angel Diaz reports that Los Blancos won’t make much contact with BVB and Haaland this summer, as they look to be putting more of their faith in Luca Jovic for one more year.

Jovic was the Bundesliga’s breakout striker in 2018-2019 whom Real purchased for 60 million euros. Although Jovic played only a minor role in 2019-2020, he has shown that he indeed has world-class potential. Giving up on him already could be an imprudent move, which means signing Haaland with his more natural abilities than Jovic, might not be justifiable.
