A dream start for Odion Ighalo

There were skepticism on whether Odion Ighalo could pull it off and turn things around at Manchester United. After two games, he already scored three goals.

Two of those scored in a 3-0 win against Derby County to book a place in FA Cup quarter-final.

The 30-year-old performance overshadowed a reunion with United’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney at Pride Park.

“As long as my team-mates believe in me, the boss believes in me and the fans believe in me, I just have to keep going,” Ighalo said.

“I don’t care what anyone says. We want to keep the momentum going and make sure we do great this season.”

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident captain Harry Maguire will be fit for Manchester derby and says Ighalo could start that game.

“When you get strikers in you want them to be happy and confident,” Solskjaer said.

“Ighalo has come in here and of course we still have a few injuries and it is great for us to have Odion to call upon. He is a different striker for us and scores some good goals, there are not many who could dig that one out for his first.”

“He has done really well so let’s see how we are on Sunday morning.”
