I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse, boy! How does £41million a year sound to you?

In the midst of Barcelona and Real Madrid trying their darndest best to outdo each other to prise wonderboy Kylian Mbappe away from his PSG club, here comes a real humdinger that could well scupper the Spanish La Liga giants plans to sign him in 2021.

Paris Saint-Germain are planning a humongous £41-million a year contract for their goose that lays the golden eggs, Kylian Mbappe. How’s that for an attractive offer to start the bidding?

The World Cup winner is contracted to the French club until 2022 and evidently the French club want to nail down their star footballer’s contract and tie him down in no uncertain terms this summer with a salary equal to that of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.  This offer is hoped to sew up Mbappe’s future before the start of the European Championships this summer.

This mega bombshell of an offer comes hot on the heels of the recent leaked revelation that Mbappe earns significantly less than  his PSG teammate Neymar.

French daily L’Equipe released estimates of monthly salaries across Ligue 1 with Neymar estimated to pocket about £2.6million a month pre-tax, equating to a weekly salary of around £600,000. As for Mbappe, he currently earns around £375,000 a week excluding bonuses. This new deal would seal him as the highest paid player at the club.

Real Madrid had planned to sign the striker in the last year of his contract and PSG’s massive offer is a serious bid on the French club’s part to derail all plans for him to move to other clubs, be it Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool or Manchester United. The 21-year-old has netted 24 times in all competitions this season and is PSG’s leading scorer.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been planning to sign the Mbappe in 2021 with just one year remaining in his contract.  That was the same ploy the Spanish giants employed when they lured Eden Hazard from Chelsea. However, PSG’s latest contract offer will make it extremely difficult for Madrid to make a move for Mbappe, especially with the striker’s father reportedly not being cued into the negotiations.

It is indeed interesting to note how PSG’s sporting director Leonardo was so immediate in his public show of support of Mbappe after the striker was involved in a heated exchange on the touchlines with manager Thomas Tuchel.”

“I heard things about Mbappe, on his personality,’ he told Canal+ after PSG’s 4-2 victory over Lyon at the weekend. “

It makes me feel uncomfortable. If a player leaves the field, and talks to the coach, OK… He is at fault. We will talk about it and settle this.”

“But to say that he is a spoiled child, I don’t accept that. Because he’s an adorable, very committed person and a fantastic player.”

Aw, shucks! See how slick and smooth they can purr when they really need you so darned desperately? Mbappe, time to lap it all up.
