Premier League English

Thanks to Spurs, Liverpool now only need six matches to win the Premier League

It was almost impossible to see the broken Tottenham Hotspur side winning against a supreme Man City, but that truly happened as the defending champions beaten 2-0 away from home.

Spurs took the lead through Steven Bergwijn who scored on his debut in 63 minutes before Son Heung-min rounded off in 71 minutes as Man City have no answer to the goals.

The result could only mean one thing for league leaders Liverpool: They only need six more victories to win the Premier League title.

Liverpool’s next six games will be against Norwich, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

After beating Southampton 4-0 at home, Liverpool are 22 points clear at the top of the table and extend their unbeaten run to 42 Premier League games.

If they win all six matches, Liverpool might be receiving a guard of honour from Man City when they travel to Etihad on April 4.

They could also break the record of being the earliest team to win the Premier League, eclipsing Man United record of winning the league title in April 2001.
