Zlatan Ibrahimovic is excited by the prospect of playing against Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A.
After signing for a short-term deal with AC MIlan following the expiry of contract with LA Galaxy, the 38-year-old is back in European football after almost two years in United States.
The Swedish striker played for Milan between 2010 and 2012 and scored 56 goals in 85 games helping them to the last Scudetto before joining PSG.
Ronaldo was then playing for Real Madrid.
Ibrahimovic have faced off Ronaldo during his time at PSG, also with Sweden.
“I know what I have to do, Zlatan is still here,” Ibrahimovic told reporters as the Swede was officially presented by his new club AC Milan. “The duel with Cristiano Ronaldo will be exciting.”
However, Milan is currently 11th in the Serie A table, eight points away from a Europa League place and 14 from a Champions League spot.
Ibrahimovic believes Milan need to suffer to become a great team again.
“You have to suffer: those who don’t know how to suffer can’t be the best,” added Ibrahimovic. “I’ll get meaner and meaner. I expect a lot from my teammates too.
“I’ve only seen Milan’s results from afar, but I don’t know what hasn’t been working so far.
“You can’t change history, AC Milan will always be AC Milan.”
Ibrahimovic wants to join the Italian club much earlier but decided to held back due to his injury.
“I’ve been looking for one final rush of adrenaline to give it my all.
“There was a chance to come back here before … but I still didn’t feel ready after my injury and I wanted to continue playing in Los Angeles because I was doing well.
“I went to America to feel alive. After two seasons in the MLS I feel more than alive. I feel ready for AC Milan.”
