V.League Champions Hanoi FC have further strengthened their squad by signing FLC Thanh Hoa’s Senegalese star striker Pape Omar Faye.
Vietnamese clubs have returned to training for pre-season friendly tournaments, as they gear up for the restart of the domestic division in March. While most clubs have abstained from recruitment so far, champions Hanoi have already made their mark.
Pape Omar Faye is one of the best foreign strikers in the league, scoring almost 70 goals in the 7 years he has featured in the Vietnamese top division. He has also appeared in a UEFA Champions League match in 2005 against Arsenal, wearing the kit of Swiss side FC Thun.
Hanoi have benefitted from an upcoming rule change ahead of next season, allowing them register three foreign players, rising from the two currently allowed for clubs last season. This signing puts the side in good stead as they prepare to mount a defence of their title.
