A brace of Wu Lei earned a 2-0 win for China in an international friendly against Thailand the Rajamangala National Stadium on Saturday.
Wu Lei put China up-front first with his attempt in the 34th minute from the assist of Zhi Xiao.
However, just before the halftime, both side had to endure a 30-minute wait for the second half to start as a heavy downpour made the pitch unplayable.
Chanathip Songkrasin had glimpses at goal in the second half but he failed to capitalize on his two attempts.
Meanwhile, the Marcello Lippi’s side proved more accurate in their scoring attempts. Their efforts were paid off in the 74th minute when Wu Lei found the net by a brilliant free-kick.
This is a warm-up for both teams as they are preparing for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
While Thailand have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts the United Arab Emirates, India and Bahrain, China have to compete for a lot in the knock-out stage with opponents in Group C, including title favorites Korea Republic, Kyrgyz Republic and the Philippines.
