BG Pathum United have unveiled their second major signing in as many days, as they secured a deal for former Buriram United star defender Andres Tunez as their latest foreign recruit.
The former Buriram United vice-captain and talisman has played almost 150 Thai League games, winning four titles and three domestic cups during his time with the Thunder Castle.
Tunez was released by Buriram earlier this season, with the club noting that his decision to leave early was partly due to his desire to be available for the opening of the European transfer window, as he was widely expected to return to Spain.
However, this stunning turn-around in recent days has caught many off guard and is yet another major statement of power and intent by the Rabbits.
Upon joining the club, Tunez is expected to form a formidable defensive partnership with Brazilian Victor Cardozo and Singaporean Irfan Fandi at the LEO Stadium.
This move comes just a day after they secured the signature of former Muangthong United captain Sarach Yooyen. These deals have instantly elevated BG Pathum and make them likely title contenders once the league restarts.
