Former Buriram United vice-captain and star defender Andres Tunez is set to join BG Pathum United, just weeks after stating his intention to return to Europe after leaving the Thunder Castle.
After an emotional farewell with Buriram, a decision most likely bought forward due to the side’s financial struggles with COVID-19, it was widely announced that Tunez wished to make himself available for the European transfer window.
However, the most recent reports suggest that Bangkok-based side BG Pathum United are in the hunt to sign the former Venezuela international, and could be poised to secure his signature.
Tunez will join a star-studded squad and will form a partnership with Brazilian veteran Victor Cardozo and rising Singaporean talent Irfan Fandi in the side’s back-line, which will become one of the most formidable in the league.
The side have also been linked recently with a move for Muangthong United captain Sarach Yooyen, who is set to leave the club amid growing financial trouble.
