The draw for the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship, which will take place in Indonesia in mid-October, was held earlier at the AFC Headquarters.
The result of the draw put Iraq in a fire group, the second group, which includes Japan, Thailand and North Korea.
Iraqi youth team coach Qahtan Jathir talked about the draw result saying: “The draw has put us in an ironic group alongside continental teams.
“The team has not assembled until now and can only be collected by the end of the league because most of our players are tied to their clubs. The team will not be able to be fully gathered until mid-August.”
The Iraqi coach concluded that he will present the preparation plan for the Iraqi Federation soon. He said: “The team needs training camps and matches at a high level, because the competition at the junior level is different from the professional”
