Iranian midfielder Ali Karimi set to miss World Cup due to injury

Iran midfielder Ali Karimi will miss the World Cup after suffering waist injury in training.

After a disappointing season with Sepahan, Karimi has wanted to be in Iran squad for the FIFA World Cup and he even had a chance to play in the first match in starting line-up due to Saeed Ezzatollahi’s suspension.

But he injured in Iran training and yesterday, Carlos Queiroz admitted that Ali Karimi would miss the tournament.

This has increased the Portuguese manager’s concern for his line-ups less than a month before the first match against Morocco at the World Cup.

Now he hopes Omid Ebrahimi, who injured in Esteghlal match against Zob Ahan in AFC Champions League, would return to his best as soon as possible.
