Jeonbuk’s squad depth saves the team

The international break could not give any break to K League’s defending champion Jeonbuk Hyundai. A total of seven players were called up by South Korea head coach Shin Tae-yong to join friendlies in Europe.

Players arrived in Korea a couple of days ago only. Choi decided to grant them rest; among those who were called up for national duties, only two players started.

However, Jeonbuk’s squad depth saved the team. In the match against Sangju Sangmu on 31 March, Carlos Adriano scored an early opener on eight minutes. Though it was not a regular line-up used by Jeonbuk, players were rather stable. The match ended in Jeonbuk’s 1:0 victory.

Jeonbuk are now facing another difficult month with AFC Champions League matches. Today’s victory against Sangju proved their potential to have a plan B with the squad depth to pursue both domestic and continental success.
