Tragedy has not ended for the most talented player of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL). Midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh has suffered another injury, which could rule him out for the remainder of the V.League season.
The 22-year-old is in South Korea undergoing treatment for a ligament injury, which relapsed last week in the HAGL’s away game against Hai Phong FC.
According to reports from Saostar, Tuan Anh is likely to undergo a surgery for the third time in his career. Due to the severe condition of the injury, the 22-year-old will be required about half a year to recover from the injury.
On the physical condition of Tuan Anh, South Korean doctor Choi Joo Young said that the final test will take place on 15 April, but all the preparations for the surgery on the midfielder have been in perfect condition.
However, Dr Choi will let Tuan Anh, who also had problems with his muscles and cartilage, decide whether he should undergo this surgery.
“We conclude that his ligaments are severely damaged. His cartilage was damaged, too. So he must take this surgery to save his career,” Dr Choi said, as quoted by The Thao & Van Hoa.
“But Tuan Anh has undergone many surgeries in the past, so he may be afraid and disappointed. After exchanging information with Tuan Anh, I want to give him comfortable time to recover before deciding whether to take this surgery.”
This is the fifth major tournament that will be missed by Tuan Anh, who is currently considered one of the most talented midfielders of Vietnam, due to injury. He had been ruled out of 2015 and 2017 SEA Games tournaments, 2016 AFF Cup, and 2018 AFC U-23 Championship where the Young Golden Stars became a phenomenon by winning the runner-up position.
