Dalian Yifang midfielder Nico Gaitan suffered horror injury after a collision with a Beijing Guoan defender during a Chinese Super League match on Friday.
Gaitan fell to the ground in the 56th minute after being caught by Li Lei’s flailing elbow and his teammates immediately signaled for medical attention.
Dalian Yifang’s Belgian international Yannick Carrasco quickly ran to Gaitan and applied first aid to make sure the Argentine midfielder did not swallow his tongue.
According to Dalian Yifan officials, this horror collision caused temporary memory loss to Gaitan. He has been reportedly under observation in hospital.
The match ended with a 3-0 loss to Dalian Yifan, and the Dalian side are rooted to the bottom of the Chinese Super League table with no victory in their first three games of the season so far.
