Omar Abdulrahman accuses Esteghlal manager of the unfairplay act

Al Ain star Omar Abdulrahman claimed German manager Winfried Schäfer allowed Esteghlal players to hit him during both side’s 1-1 draw at Azadi stadium on AFC Champions League’s Monday match.

After the controversial 2-2 draw at Hazza Bin Zayed stadium on 6 March, Esteghlal host Al Ain yesterday. The Tehran Giant took the lead with a goal of Senegalese striker Mame Thiam from the penalty kick. However, the Japanese defender Tsusaka Shiotani leveled the score in the 78th minute.

“I heard Schafer told his players to hit Al Ain’s number 10!” 2016 Asian Player of the Year winner told to reporters.

“We had several chances and could get 3 points of this match. We still have two more matches in this group and could take 6 points from them. All is in our hand to secure our spot in next round,” he added.

Winfried Schäfer was Al Ain manager between 2007-2009 and worked with Omar Abdulrahman in his last season on bench of Abu Dhabi club.
