A-League clubs urge FIFA to ban Australia FA from working group

A-League clubs urged FIFA to act swiftly on reconstructing Football Federation Australia (FFA), as reported by AAP on Wednesday.

The clubs have started their private meeting with a delegation, which included two FIFA representatives – Nodar Akhalkatsi and Luca Nicola – and the Asian Football Confederation’s Ravi Kumar, to fix Australian football’s governance issues.

During a two-and-a-half-hour meeting, the chairmen of the 10 clubs tried to persuade the delegation to ban FFA from participating in the congress review working group, which is the softer alternative to sacking FFA chairman Steven Lowy and his board.

The clubs will also reportedly propose for other changes to FFA’s governance, including greater financial transparency and more independent arbitration processes.
