Philippines international Alvaro Silva joins Malaysian side Kedah FA

Kedah FA officially announced the signing of the Philippines international Alvaro Silva on Thursday evening, according to Bharian.

This is a surprising move as his previous club Hanoi FC had announced his departure to Thai League 1 side Sukhothai FC one day earlier.

Silva will be subject to medical record checks and final evaluation by head coach Marcote before finalizing the deal.

The club stated that the 33-year-old had received the attention of former coach Tan Cheng Hoe in the 2016 season, but a technical issue barred him from joining the Malaysian club.

Born in Spain, Silva played for Spanish clubs Malaga, Cadiz and Xerez. In early 2014, he managed to earn Filipino passport as his paternal grandmother was a Filipina in order to be eligible to play for the Philippines national team.
