Shinji Kagawa, Son Heung-min nominated for AFC award

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa, Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min and Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy have been nominated for this year’s Asian International Player of the Year award.

Kagawa played a key role in Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga campaign last season, helping them to a top-three finish. He also helped Japan to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

Son Heung-min has impressed greatly at Tottenham Hotspurs this year. The former Bayer Leverkusen attacker has recently become the top Asian scorer in the English Premier League’s history, moving ahead of his compatriot Park Ji-sung with 20 goals.

The nominees for this year’s Asian Player of the Year award, which will be given to Asia-based footballers, are China’s Wu Lei, the U.A.E.’s Omar Abdulrahman Al Amoudi, and Syria’s Omar Khribin.
