Jamal Nasir: Even Alex Ferguson would faint if he had to coach Malaysia

Malaysia football legend Jamal Nasir has drawn his criticism into the national team following the disastrous results in 2019 Asian Cup qualification.

“I think even Alex Ferguson would faint if he had to coach the Malaysian team,” said Jamal on Tuesday, as quoted by The New Straits Times.

The Pahang legend also blamed the players for not having “international standards”.

“Every time we lose, the coach gets the blame when in fact the players on the field just did not perform. Their quality is only good for the local league and they are not prepared, either physically or mentally, to compete at international level,” he added.

“(National coach) Nelo Vingada has to work with such players. If we only have this kind of players, even a big name coach would struggle.

Malaysia’s 2019 Asian Cup campaign ended in a disappointing way after the team’s double big loss to North Korea in the qualifiers.
