Malaysia head coach Nelo Vingada “not going anywhere” after North Korea heavy defeat

Malaysia national team head coach Nelo Vingada insisted that he “will not be going anywhere” and believed he has the backing to continue his job following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the North Koreans in Thailand.

The Portuguese coach has failed to guide Malaysia national team to a victory since his appointment back in May. In the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualification campaign, they have lost at home against Lebanon and away at Hong Kong, and were held at home by Hong Kong as well.

Despite these poor results, Vingada said he was not worried about his position.

“My contract is for two years. Honestly, I am disappointed with the result. Malaysian fans are also disappointed but the players are more upset,” the Portuguese coach said, as quoted by New Strait Times.

“I will not be going anywhere regardless the team do well or not. I am not worried about my position. I will not give up,” said Vingada.
