Former Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Jason Brown will assist Vietnam national team caretaker Mai Duc Chung in training the three goalkeepers for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Cambodia on 10 October.
Currently, Brown is taking up the goalkeeping coach position for Vietnam U-19 following the invitation of Vietnam Football Federation.
Chung, who has sent an invitation to Brown in coaching national team’s goalkeeper for Cambodia clash, expressed his belief in the capability of the former Wales international.
“Obviously, we have not paid enough attention to the goalkeeper. They are always remembered for their mistakes, which are difficult to forgive,” Chung told local media, as quoted by The Thao & Van Hoa.
“So I think there should be a qualifier trainer for our goalkeepers. In the next training session, I will invite U-19 goalkeeping coach Jason Brown to train the national team’s goalkeepers.”
Recently, Vietnam national teams often face difficulties due to the mistakes of their goalkeepers. In Kuala Lumpur’s SEA Games, a series of faults from Phi Minh Long in the Thailand clash contributed to the early elimination of Vietnam U-22.
