Vietnam assistant coach Lu Dinh Tuan to take over as interim manager – Reports

Vietnam assistant coach Lu Dinh Tuan is likely to take over as interim manager on Friday following Nguyen Huu Thang’s decision to part ways with the national team.

With AFC U-23 championship qualifier against Cambodia coming up in less than 10 days, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has to rush for a contemporary replacement for Thang.

According to reports from Vietnam news site Tuoi Tre, Lu Dinh Tuan, currently the coach assistant, has been expected to take the wheel at the national squad until Vietnam football governing body officially finds the desired candidate.

As a player, Tuan had been in the Vietnam national squad who earned the silver medal in 1995 SEA Games.

After retired from the national outfit, the 49-year-old has pursued the coaching career, started by leading Cang Sai Gon in 2007. He also served as the U-22 team head coach in 2012.
