Persepolis striker Mehdi Taremi wins Iran player of the year

Persepolis striker Mehdi Taremi has been awarded the player of the year of Iran Professional League (IPL) for the second season in a row.

Taremi was also named as top scorer of the IPL with 18 goals in the ceremony held in Tehran’s Milad Tower on Sunday night.

Since joining Persepolis in 2014, Taremi has become the top scorer of the Persian Gulf Pro League on two occasions. Last season, the 25-year-old scored 18 goals, including a brace in the 3–1 win over Sepahan, in match knowing as Iran’s El Clasico

Persepolis had a big night as the Persian Gulf Pro League defender champions were crowned as the best team of the year, while their coach Branko Ivankovic was named as the coach of the year for leading Persepolis to IPL title.
