Malaysia FA president: Only our country stop the league for young squad to play at SEA Games

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has expressed his objection to altering several Malaysia Super League fixtures to provide the necessary space for the U22 squad to compete at this month’s SEA Games.

“Only our country has stopped the league to give way to the country’s young squad, whereby other countries can still continue their respective leagues as usual, and that is my point of view,” Tunku Ismail told reporters at a press conference after attending a meeting with the country’s U22 squad on 6 August, as quoted by Bernama.

“We will need a few months to study this, what we will do is bring it up at the next EXCO meeting to see if we can resolve it.” the FAM president added.

He instead proposed that the FAM and Football Malaysia LLP (FMLLP) sit down and identify the cause of the problem, as well as find a solution for the long term.
