Indonesia U22 confident in winning gold medal at SEA Games

Indonesia U22 assistant coach Bima Sakti is optimistic about the chance of his team in winning the gold medal at this month’s SEA Games.

Indonesia has been drawn in Group B with Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia and Timor Leste. The group has been called “The Group of Death”, considering Thailand and Vietnam are favorites to win gold medals in men’s soccer.

However, the Young Garudas are still targeting the highest crown at the regional football tournament, which will take place in Malaysia.

“Yes, surely we target gold medal at all sports, but we are also aware that it has been a long time we haven’t been able to win a soccer’s gold medal. SEA Games is our next target,” said Sakti, as quoted by Antara.

According to Bima, Indonesia U22, which have called up 24 players, will train intensively until 12 August 2017 before leaving for Kuala Lumpur.
