Premier League to finish in 35 days with new plan?

There’ve been no shortage of theories about how the Premier League would be finished when the current hiatus is ended and returns from its current suspension, whenever that might be, including one crazy plan about playing the games in China.

The latest plan to surface, according to The Telegraph, would see the league be completed within a frenetic 5-week period in just 35 days, hopefully targeting the beginning of June and with clubs playing roughly two games a week for five weeks to complete the schedule behind closed doors.

Tallk has also been on-going about games being played at neutral venues, with Wembley and St George’s Park having been mooted as potential key venues. However, the latest report claims the hope is for clubs to play games within their own venues.

With the majority of teams having between nine to ten games left to play, this would require at least five weeks to wrap up the games, meaning that there wouldn’t be much time for players to rest sufficiently as there would still be FA Cup and European games still unattended to.

Discussions on whether or not all the games could be televised with no fans in attendance have also sprung up, and UEFA have lifted the ban on 3pm Saturday games being shown.

Clubs in England are said to be focusing with interest on Germany where the Bundesliga have allowed players to resume training in groups five and less. Restrictions like these have necessitated the need for managers to be clever with drills and maximising the strategy of placing the right players training together in each group for the best results. With such an optimistic outlook, this could hopefully be the start to the Bundesliga getting back on its feet again next month.

The English Premier League isn’t on the starting blocks gearing to be on-going in May although hope is abreast that similar training like what the Bundesliga are doing could happen next month and that football makes a return in June.

Regardless of the optimismistic musings over when and how the league could return in the near future, there is serious concern that there may be no fans allowed into games as late as November, when next season has hopefully gotten underway.

The season needs to be finished in some recognisable manner before the next one can start in order to get around the issues of relegation, European qualification and even the league title winners, even though Liverpool need only two more wins to secure their first ever in 30 years.
