Mohamed Salah likely to accept ‘unbelievable’ offer from Saudi Arabia

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s future is currently up in the air with Liverpool likely to lose the ace striker before transfer deadline day on Friday as Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad are preparing to offer an eye-watering deal to sign him, according to reports.

According to CBS Sports, Al-Ittihad are all poised to offer the Anfield bosses around £130m for the 31-year-old earlier this week, with Salah himself set to earn humongous wages even in excess of what Cristiano Ronaldo is earning currently.

Liverpool are sticking to their stance that Salah will in no way leave the club this summer, with Jurgen Klopp defiantly pooh-poohing any suggestions that the Egyptian star would depart Anfield in the aftermath of the Reds’ 2-1 win against Newcastle United on Sunday.

However, Jan Aage Fjortoft – a former Premier League midfielder who played for Middlesbrough and Sheffield United before turning football journalist – has expressed that Salah will likely leave Liverpool before their next game against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Fjortfort stated: “I understand it’s likely that Salah will leave Liverpool this week.

“The money offered to player AND club is just unbelievable. The fact that the transfer window in Saudi Arabia closes 7th of September (as stated at Saudi – FA site – other places says even 20th) makes this also more complicated.”

Fjortfort also highlighted that Al-Ittihad have a week longer to conclude a deal for Salah than Premier League clubs have before the deadline, meaning Liverpool will have to act quickly to find a replacement as the transfer deadline in the UK terminates on Friday, September 1 at 11pm BST.

Salah – the fifth-higherst scorer in the club’s history following his strike against Bournemouth on the Premier League’s second matchweek this season – has netted 187 goals in 308 appearances for Liverpool.

Replacing the crack striker would seem like the impossible task, needless to say.
