Robert Lewandowski open to Chelsea transfer decision while Romelu Lukaku plots exit

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona could have a ball of a time ending up with some kind of a menage a trois this summer, as Romelu Lukaku and the Bundesliga’s Robert Lewandowski are reportedly eager to depart their old roosts to find new clubs.

Lewandowski is all poised to hand Chelsea a timely massive boost ahead of the upcoming transfer window as the 33-year-old striker, allegedly heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, has now reportedly arrived at a conclusion regarding his future.

Featuring 34 times for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season with a direct contribution of 39 goals, the Poland international’s impressive displays steered the German giants to a tenth successive title. Despite being on the unflattering end of the age equation, Lewandowski is undoubtedly dead center in the cross-sights of a host of leading European clubs.

With his contract at the Allianz Arena running out at the end of next season, an element of doubt has been cast over his future in Germany. Yet despite Chelsea’s keen interest, the Guardian have made it clear that Barcelona is the favored destination of the striker.

Transfer specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano has added that there is ‘no way for other clubs’ to lure Lewandowski away from a move to the Camp Nou, claiming in fact that the striker has already verbally agreed a three-year deal.

On the flipside of the Lewandowski transfer saga, Bayern have now become a potential destination for Romelu Lukaku this summer, according to reports in Spain. The Bundesliga giants have apparently identified the 28-year-old as a likely replacement for the Polishman should he be unyielding in his desire to leave the club.

The Chelsea striker has clearly struggled to acclimatise to the Premier League upon his return to Stamford Bridge and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, having found the net just 17 times in 44 appearances this season and was often relegated to the bench.

football.london understand that there’s supposed to be in the cards between Lukaku and new owner Todd Boehly before making his final decision. Allegedly as far as the striker is concerned, it is immaterial whether these talks have happened or not as the striker has cut all ties with current boss Tuchel and does not want to have anything to do with the German ‘anymore’, according to the latest Italian reports via Sport Witness.

So, with Lewandowski seemingly eager to leave Bayern and Lukaku keen to depart from west London, the Pole could be most instrumental in facilitating the latter’s move to the Allianz Arena this summer by leaving the door open on his exit in anticipation of Chelsea’s making a final decision regarding the Belgian’s future.

Tuchel commented on Lukaku’s future at the club ahead of the FA Cup final last month, saying:

“I think if he plans to talk with the owner, maybe it is not his plan to talk with me. It’s fair enough. Let’s see if he gets a meeting! It is his right. We will talk to anybody.

“We will evaluate any situation of any player, including Romelu. We will see what is going to happen and what the plans are.”
