Kylian Mbappe has allegedly been given lots of motivation to seriously consider a new contractual proposal from Paris Saint-Germain designed to make him the highest-paid player in world football, after the outcome of the recent 1st leg Champions League last 16 match with Real Madrid.
Obviously, the French club realise how crucially vital the 23-year-old is to their project as potentially the best player in the world for the next decade, and are willing to offer the sort of contract hitherto unseen in the history of the game.
The Independent has been informed that PSG is more than willing to pay the French World Cup winner a basic weekly wage way in excess of £500,000, in fact closer to £1m a week. This would effectively rule out Real Madrid – or any other club, for that matter – as a serious contender in terms of matching the Parisian club’s offer. As far as the Parisian juggernauts are concerned, it’s all simply about putting the money where the mouth is.
Apparently some members from Mbappe’s camp comprising his family and entourage had scheduled meetings with PSG on Wednesday, the day after his match-winning display against the Spanish club in which the stagnancy of the Madrid team in comparison to PSG was emphasized. After all, it had already become public knowledge that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez had become fittingly enraged with the nature of his team’s performance and is supposedly considering replacing Caro Ancelotti with Mauricio Pochettino.
Mbappes’ contract runs out this summer, and although it is his prerogative to sign a deal with another club now, he has so far left his options open. And there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be reconsidering his latest options with the Parisian club in view of their latest humongous proposal.
Although the Madridistas’ hierarchy have long been aware of the player’s emotional yearning since he was young to join such a club like Real Madrid’s with its legacy, it should also not be overlooked that someone like Mbappe who is credited with having maturity beyond his age should also be keenly aware of the necessity of absolutely maximising his talent in terms of increasing the opportunities for him to win the most prestigious European silverware and the whole plethora of individual football awards. As such, Spanish football may not be fully adequate to serve his purpose in helping him achieve his largest ambitions given its current economic crisis, which had realistically pushed Perez to moot the Super League project earlier with disastrous consequences.
Simultaneously, a massive contract offer the biggest that football has ever seen is understandably resonant with the Qatari owners’ modus operandi in their brand management of PSG, as they deliberately posture themselves to be in that unique brand positioning where they are almost unrivaled by any competitor.
Analysing the Parisian club’s latest offer to their star French forward, it is also a strategy that has greater implications as it would also influence other moves, as in realistically mitigating the offer for Paul Pogba, for one. PSG were alleged all this while to be willing to offer Pogba up to €600,000 a week, which was due in large part to their preference for a French national – and preferably Parisian – star at the center of their team if Mbappe were to leave the capital.
Now, if the latest offer to Mbappe were to prove enticing enough, it would no longer be necessary for Pogba to join the Parisian club.
