Messi could take huge pay cut to seal Man City or PSG transfer

Allegedly, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi could be ready to accept a big pay cut to exit his current club for Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

With the Argentina international’s earnings pegged around £750,000 a week at Barcelona, it’s reported that he would be willing to have that halved in order to beat a hasty retreat out of the Nou Camp, with PSG in the strongest position to land his signature.

The report also mentions Man City still having a keen interest in Messi, and both clubs are said to be increasingly confident that he will be leaving his current club.

Messi’s career at Barca has been truly glorious but this may soon be coming to an end after a trepidatious time in the last year or so as the Catalan giants are no longer the dominant force they once were, having suffered some huge disappointments in the Champions League in particular, whilst also being beaten to the La Liga title by Real Madrid last term.

Fans of English football will surely be rooting hard for City in this transfer tussle with PSG as it would certainly be exciting to see Messi joining forces again with his former mentor Pep Guardiola in the Premier League before the end of his career.

By the same token, Ligue 1 fans would also be keeping their fingers crossed for the Barca talisman to cross over to the Parisien club to catch the enchantment of his twilight years as he reunites once again with his bosom buddy and former strike partner, Neymar.
