After 12 years, Thomas Muller has signed a two-year contract extension to stay with Bayern Munich until 30 June 2023.
Muller joined Bayern from his home club TSV Pähl at the age of 10 and going up the rank until he joined the first team squad since 2009.
This season, the 30-year-old has made 500th competitive appearance for Bayern, becoming the 10th Bayern player to reach the mark since the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965.
Muller is excited to play for Bayern again, despite still facing the coronavirus crisis.
“I’m sure that once we’re playing again, we’ll continue to be very successful. That spurs me on.
“For me, the number one priority was to extend at FC Bayern – and the club felt the same way.
“I’ve been with FC Bayern for a good two-thirds of my life now, so you can’t say that the club and I are just along for the ride – we fight for each other.
“This club is not just any old employer for me. It’s my passion. I’m happy that I’ll be here for two extra years, and I’ll give everything on and off the pitch.”
Throughout the years with Bayern, Muller won eight Bundesliga titles and five DFB Pokal titles.
He also part of the team that won the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Supercup in 2013.
Muller currently scored 10 goals and 18 assists in all competition this season.
