Lionel Messi has been offered an “unbeatable three-year contract” from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in anticipation of the Barcelona captain and record goalscorer soon being out of contract in the summer and therefore could be available on a free transfer to join another club he sets his sights on.
And according to Marcelo Bechler, the journalist who was first to report news of Neymar’s shock move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, Parisiens are still in pursuit of a mega deal for the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
It’s reportedly alleged that PSG, who were among the first to show strong interest when Messi handed in a transfer request last summer, are optimistic their offer and project cannot be matched by any other club.
Their proposal to Messi is an initial two-year contract, with an option for an extra year, while he will also be offered their iconic No.10 shirt which has been worn by Neymar, his former teammate and close friend, in Paris since his world-record £198 million transfer in 2017.
Javier Pastore let him have the No.10 jersey as a gift and reverted back to No.27.
Neymar and Messi linked up wonderfully during their time together at Barca and the Brazilian global icon publicly revealed his utmost desire to link up again with Messi following PSG’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in December.
“What I want most is to play with [Messi] again, to be able to enjoy being on the pitch with him again,” the Brazil international told ESPN after scoring a brace.
“He could play in my place. He won’t have any problems, I’m sure. I want to play with him again and I’m sure that, next season, we have to do it.”
Neymar is believed to contacted Messi in a bid to try and get him to join him in the French capital.
