Son Heung-min left White Hart Lane with the match ball last night as he scored his first hat-trick for the club and help Tottenham Hotspur advance to the semifinal of FA Cup. The goals took his tally to 14 in all competitions for the season.
Son’s first goal was too easy, in that he was allowed all the time he wanted to cut inside and curl home a left-footed shot from 20 yards just four minutes before the break.
He doubled his tally with a sweetly-struck volley from Kieran Trippier’s ball over the top.
The South Korean striker completed his hat-trick with virtually the last kick of the match, courtesy of a howler from the Millwall goalkeeper.
With Harry Kane expected to be out at least several weeks, this could be Son’s chance to grab a starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven. Tottenham may be out of the title race but there is still a Champion League place and FA Cup glory to fight for.
Son was announced as part of Uli Stielike’s 24-men squad for South Korea’s World Cup Qualifiers later this month, but he will miss the match against China due to suspension.
