Marinos winger set for Bundesliga adventure

Yokohama F. Marinos left-winger Keita Endo is closed to completing his move to Bundesliga side FC Union Berlin.

German sports publication Kicker revealed that the Die Eisernen is keeping a close tab on Keita Endo and has already met with the player’s representative.

Endo, 22, is a product of Yokohama F. Marinos’s academy and played an internal part in the 2019 J1 League winning side. Japanese national team manager, Hajime Moriyasu, is another big supporter of Endo, having coached the winger at youth level and later hand Endo his international debut with against China in December of 2019.

For many years the Bundesliga has become the hot destination for Japanese players as evidence by the success of iconic talents such as Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund) or Makoto Hasebe (VfL Wolfsburg & Eintracht Frankfurt). If Endo were to complete the transfer then he’ll become the third Japanese to represent FC Union Berlin after right-back Yuzuru Okuyama and Atsuto Uchida.
