South Korea international striker Hwang Hee-Chan has completed a move to join Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig from affiliated club Salzburg in the upcoming transfer window.
Hwang is expected to replace Timo Werner in Leipzig’s lineup, as the German forward is set to join Chelsea. It is reported that Julian Naglesmann’s side are going to fork out €9m for the striker, and he will also wear Werner’s #11 for his new side.
The 24-year-old has been a star for Salzburg this year, registering 16 goals and 22 assists in 40 games across all competitions during the 2019-20 season.
He has also made 32 appearances for the South Korea national team throughout his career, scoring 4 goals for the ‘Taegeuk Warriors’.
Hwang will become the second player to trade Salzburg for the Bundesliga this year, as Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland moved from the Austrian champions to Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window, and has since registered an impressive goal tally.
The striker will be in good company in the Bundesliga, joining Korean compatriots Ji Dong-won, Kwon Chang-hoon, and Jeong Woo-yeong in the German league.
