Brazilian striker Pedro Junior has departed from Thai League side Samut Prakan City during the extended COVID-19 break, according to recent reports.

The former Buriram United and Kashima Antlers forward signed for the club before the start of the current season, replacing top-scorer Ibson Melo up top for the Sea Fang.

However, the attacker failed to score in his first four Thai League appearances for the side and was often isolated up front in the side’s more defensive approach under coach Masatada Ishii.

The Brazilian reportedly mentioned his desire to be with his family during the COVID-19 pandemic for his reason for leaving the club.

Questions remain as to the fate of the rest of the squad, as the club is finding ways to cut costs during the extended break.
