State of the Team: Malaysia is in a good mood as they recorded two wins in their two previous matches, against both higher ranking teams. The player’s conditions are also quite great at the moment. Unfortunately, Malaysia will go against Indonesia without two key players, Syafiq Ahmad and Matthew Davies, due to match suspension. However, the options available for Tan Cheng Hoe are still reliable as most of the players on the bench are always ready to play.

Thoughts on Opposition: Indonesia is currently having a tough period as their caretaker coach, Yeyen Tumena will undergo his first match in charge. The selection of new players to the squad is the biggest threat to Malaysia, as they could present a surprise. Previously, Indonesia was using different a different system and set of players when they were defeated at home in the reverse fixture. Again, Malaysia can’t take it too easy, as everybody knows the ability of Indonesia to make spring a surprise in a huge match.

Player to Watch – Brendan Gan: Brendan showcased an outstanding performance against Thailand as he scored a goal and provided a world-class assist for Sumareh’s winning goal. The dominant display from this Australian born player was a key for the Malaysia national squad. In fact, he has proven his consistency in every match he played. Brendan’s role in both attacking and defending is hugely influential and helps set the game’s tempo.

Prediction: Malaysia is highly predicted to claim the victory over Indonesia tonight. But I am sure that tonight’s match will never be easy for the Malaysia national squad, even though they have the advantage of playing at home in front of 80,000 supporters. At the same time, three points tonight could mean a lot for Malaysia and the players will certainly be up for it. In short, Malaysia will clinch a 3-1 win over Indonesia tonight.
