Nakhon Ratchasima Appoint Teerasak Po-On as New Head Coach

Thai League side Nakhon Ratchasima FC have appointed former Chiangrai United and PTT Rayong boss Teerasak Po-On as their head coach for the 2020 season.

Teerasak replaces interim head coach Chalermwut Sa-ngapol, who was bought in to save the Swatcats from relegation after the resignation of long-time boss Milos Joksic. The side just about managed to pull off the feat, thanks to a 3-1 away win against Chainat in the penultimate game of the season and favorable results on the final day.

Commonly known as Coach Joe, Teerasak brings a wealth of experience into his new role. After playing over 100 games for Chiangrai, he was promoted to be the side’s head coach, overseeing three respectable mid-table finishes from 2014 to 2016.

Teerasak then took charge of second-tier side PTT Rayong, winning promotion back to the top flight in his second season. Last year, the Firepower made waves by turning around a slow start to the season to seemingly secure their survival with an 11th place finish.

However, despite his success, Coach Joe found himself without a job in the off-season, as PTT Rayong folded for financial reasons. Understandably, after demonstrating his pedigree in the top flight with two different clubs, the coach was snapped up by the Swatcats, who will be aiming to stay clear of the relegation scrap and build on their 13th-place finish.
