Portuguese newspaper Abola reported Iran national team striker Mehdi Taremi will probably miss Team Melli’s crucial match against Iran in 2022 World Cup qualification at Basra.
Taremi who moved to Portuguese club Rio Ave in close season from Qatari side Al-Gharafa, had started the season brilliantly, with scoring 3 goals and taking 5 penalty kick in first 4 matches.
But two injuries in recent weeks hampered his chances to improve his tally and now Abola reports he will surely miss Rio Ave’s upcoming match against Belenenses on Wednesday due to ankle injury.
Some other reports claimed he will be out of action for 3-4 weeks and it means Taremi will miss Iran crucial qualifier against Iraq.
Iran defeated against Bahrain in previous fixture and need a away win at Basra to keep their chances alive to get through to the next round.
