The official announcement was made last Friday by Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. During the special announcement, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, who is also the owner of the Belgian club, said he took almost four months to convince the young ace.

However, Luqman will spend three months next year with another Vincent Tan’s club, Cardiff City, before reaching the age of 18 in March 2020.

The young striker from Kota Bharu displayed an astonishing performance with Malaysia U-18 squad. His superb goals against Australia was a turning point from which all Malaysians started to remember his name. Previously, he was named as the top scorer in AFC U-16 Championship in 2018 and listed as one of the best first eleven in Sanix Cup 2019.

Vincent Tan spoke to media about the moving, mentioning that he is happy to bring in local talent and looks forward to seeing Luqman play in Europe. The Youth and Sports Minister hopes that Luqman will be the first of many from Malaysia to play in European Football.
