Hanoi FC have returned to the top of the table after 1-0 win over the Ho Chi Minh City FC at the Hang Day stadium. The reigning champions successfully appealed a ban for their supporters, after flares were thrown in the match against Hai Phong the previous week.

As a result, the Hang Day stadium welcomed 13.000 people to watch the match between Hanoi FC and Ho Chi Minh City FC – the two sides who sat neck and neck atop the V.League table.

After 90 tight minutes, Hanoi FC were able to clinch the 1-0 victory, with the game’s only goal coming from Hoang Vu Samson, assisted by Nguyen Quang Hai. The win put Hanoi FC back to the top of the standings with 17 points, 1 point over Ho Chi Minh City.

Elsewhere, well supported Hoang Anh Gia Lai continued their poor start to the season with a 3-3 draw against the bottom club Thanh Hoa FC. They took a 3-1 lead after 60 minutes thanks to a brace from Chevaughn Walsh, but terrible defending cost them a win as the side conceded two goals in the last 15 minutes.

Than Quang Ninh moved up to fourth place after a comeback win over Sanna Khanh Hoa. Ivorian Yao Hermann was the hero for the team with 1 goal and 1 assist while Youssouf Toure scored the visitor’s solitary goal in their 2-1 defeat.
