Report: Melbourne City youngster Pierias on trial at Genoa

Australian right back Dylan Pierias is currently on a 10-day trial with Serie A side Genoa according to a report by Australian journalist Lucy Zelic.

After making the youngest debut in A-League history at just 16 years old in February of 2017, he drew praise from the Guardian‘s Next Generation 2017 roundup of young talent, which cited his athleticism and intelligence on the pitch.

The 18-year-old has made five appearances for Melbourne City’s U-21 side in this year’s National Youth League, including the February 3 final against eventual champions Western Sydney Wanderers. He served as captain of the Young Socceroos during last fall’s qualification for the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship.

Pierias, who also has an Italian passport, is the second young Australian to trial abroad this month following Tuesday’s revelation that Pierce Waring is training with Japan’s Cerezo Osaka.
