On May 12th, Dijon FCO visited Lille OSC’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy. The host came from behind and won 2:1.

The result could be frustrating, but Korean fans were excited to see Kwon Chang-hoon’s goal. Korea’s rising star scored the opener, which is his 11th goal this season, on 11 minutes. It was even more meaningful as he scored in two consecutive games. This has made Kwon the team’s top scorer along with Julio Tavares.

In addition, should Kown score another goal in Dijon’s last round, he will tie the record for most goals scored by a Korean player in a single League 1 season. Currently, the former AS Monaco forward Park Chu-young holds this record with 12 goals in 2010/11.

South Korea head coach Shin Tae-yong would be happy as well. Kwon is expected to make it to the upcoming World Cup squad which will be announced tomorrow morning. He is likely to lead the team’s attacks on the flank with Korea’s ace, Son Heung-min.
