Central Coast Mariners attacker Trent Buhagiar joins Sydney FC

Sydney FC have completed the deal of Trent Buhagiar as the club’s first new signing of the post-Graham Arnold era.

As reported by SBS The World Game, Buhagiar joins the Sky Blues on a two-year deal from the Central Coast Mariners.

The 20-year-old started only four games last season over 19 appearances for the Mariners, but has been impressed by his pace on the wing.

Buhagiar felt he could take his game “to a whole new level” at his new club.

“My aim is to work hard, give everything, fight for a place and to grow in a professional environment,” Buhagiar said.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC have also confirmed the departure of Matt Simon. The 32-year-old is going the other way with Buhagiar for family reasons to rejoin the Mariners, where he is the club’s all-time leading goal scorer during the first stint with them in 2006.
