German manager Winfried Schäfer will extend his contract with Esteghlal after brilliant results in his first season on Tehran giant bench.
The veteran manager has taken the role from Alireza Mansourian on the midway of the past season. Despite a stuttering start, he has changed Esteghlal style of play completely and became very popular among the fans.
His team have ended the season in 3rd place and get through to the next round of AFC champions league as table topper in a difficult group with Al-Hilal, Al-Ain and Al-Rayyan.
So, Esteglal directors decide to extend his contract and after a long negotiation, they reached to an agreement. It seems he will sign his new contract after clashing against Zob Ahan in AFC Champions League Last 16.
